Guten Morgen, blog.

Ohmygod, I must be a morning person. Here I am at college - AGAIN - posting unecessarily on this blog of mine, with it's random posts that seem to fly out of the depths of boredom and make little posts on the page that make people's face's go "like whaaa?". I feel really exhausted for some reason, and in 3/4 of an hour I will find out whether I epically failed my English drama coursework. So, i figured, let's make this last post happy before i regress back into my melancholy, angsty teenage self like I'm supposed to.

I would just like to announce to the world that I HAVE JUST PRE-ORDERED MARY AND MAX ON DVD! It is like, the bestest bestest best best ever film in the world: and that's coming from someone who's a stickler for made up words and grammar. It has a three way tie for my favourite with Coraline and Little Miss Sunshine, but, holy spaghetti monster, is this film AWESOME.
It's claymation AND a dark comedy! My favourites combined!

Anyway, i felt this film deserved it's own blogpost because it's utterly captivating, and as a humble, amatuer film critic, I must say it touched my indie-loving and comedy-adoring nerdling heart. Mary and Max is about an Austrailian girl called Mary and an obese, Jewish New Yorker called Max (shock horror - you didn't see that one coming!) who strike up a correspondence to help deal with their problems.

I would heartily reccommend this film, and once I get it (if the UK postal service/amazon delivery doesn't go up the creek) on the 24th January, if anyone I know wants to borrow it (unfortunately I can't really trust myself to send this over the country or by air mail) then feel free to contact me. This film is actually amazing, and I am jumping up and down (metaphorically of course - I am in college still, and that kind of thing is not acceptable in public past the age of seven) in anticipation of seeing it again. The first time, I went to London to see it, due to its limited release, but it was worth it. Adam Elliot is a genius.

On an even more hyperactive note, I actually wrote a few paragraphs and two poems yesterday! Things are looking firmly upward. I just hope a bird (i.e. english coursework) doesn't spoil it and decide to crap on my face while I'm looking up.

NOTE:

The picture was accesed at 08:44 (is anyone up this early?) on 20/01/2011. It is of the adorable Mary in the film Mary and Max. All rights reserved to the company that made the film (I'll find out on the 24th!) and Adam Elliot, who wrote and directed it and is frankly my new idol and a genius. Please don't find me and sue me for this post; I think you're a ninja, and a genius.

Also, the picture was accessed from someone else's blog (oops):

Incidentally I think their blog is cool if you like films.

Well, bonjourno Blog. It has been a few days since we last conversed (as in talk, not the awesome brand of shoe). How are you doing? I hope you haven't missed me too much. This entry shall be quick.

Sorry bloggers, have been busy with coursework/reading Thomas Hardy poetry/learning about the hypothalamus in psychology class. Once again I have hijacked a college computer early in the morning and rather than participate in work-related tasks *ahem* I am instead using up my writing quota for the day. But blerd naught, what an amazing week it's been! And I haven't even got laid or won the lottery! Happy days! It's like I think it's a combination of the fact I've started getting up earlier and getting into college about an hour early (I can explore and actually get a computer! Nerdling success) and the fact I am drinking more hot chocolate to retain my delightfully obese physique. Also I've started reading Brave New World by Auldrous Huxley and I cannot reccomend it enough. So bethanjanesmith is very happy, cheerful and slightly grinning like an idiot, even at writing this post.

I have FINALLY (I cannot emphasise FINALLY enough as Piczo is being a bit miffed about underlining, emboldening or italiscising words) finished my Jane Eyre coursework and my exams...and you know what that means! FREE TIME PEOPLE! FREE AT LAST! :D

Unfortunately, there is a slight chance I will get a D on my English Drama coursework and will have to restart. Other than that, I should be free to start writing some lovely creative things... Like I was supposed to ages ago. Will keep posted on whether the creative lightbulb in my head will ever get fixed or whether the ex (oh dear, there's another character I have to explain), recent events and my inability to meditate means my creative spark is well and truly dead forever.

And on that melancholy note, I now have sociology class. Adios.
NOTE:

This is the hypothalamus. Isn't it pretty? (Not?) Anyway, it's important for stress, arousal and sexual arousal (ahem) so it's quite important.

And I have no idea where this image is from. Sorry.

Howdy there, Senor Blog.

A combination of overeating Pizza Hut and mindlessly slaughtering the undead has put me in a funny mood. While my camera abilities are frighteningly awful (any shaking is NOT for dramatic effect, i assure you - you try operating a joystick while trying to save a garden gnome AND use a camera), feel free to check out these videos and pictures of my night playing Left For Dead 2 with Miss Lucy Liu/ LucyLovee.

Also, weekend unfortunately will be filled with completing Jane Eyre coursework and the fact I have work means I have a rather limited amount of time to get an A on this bloomin' thing. And seeing as I am apparently A-Level ninja child (I am not), i really need to do this coursework! So, yet again, creative writing is taking a back seat. Drama: will i EVER manage to write anything? (computer says no :-( )

My Xbox tag is killerPENGUIN49, if anyone in the piczo-universe happens to have an Xbox (though taking a straw pole of the teenagers on this site, I'm guessing they don't appreciate zombie blood-fests.)
Anyway, Gnome Chompski is, like, a legend. And so is Left For Dead, pizza and chilling with a friend :-)

Part II of our videos, as we try and save Chompski. I fail epically, we shoot the peanut and give up until...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aNm_PJrK4j0

A Happy ending! We love you Chompski.

NOTE

Unfortunately, piczo decided to hate me and wouldn't let me upload my video properly. FML. Also, Left For Dead 1& 2 are copyrights of Valve Corporation. And Xbox's are owned my Microsoft, and therefore Bill Gates. Please don't kill me Bill Gates.

Incidentally, my YouTube account name is acousticblackbird.

Live Long and Prosper, Blog.

Well, the bethanjanesmith you all know and love, 4 followers, is back. Her exams are finished, her emotional outlet has been made (cliched and exhaustingly, admittedly) and now I'm listening to Kings of Leon, reading my Creative Writing for Dummies bedtime reading and drinking copious amounts of hot chocolate to maintain my delightfully chubby figure.

I am anticipating killing some zombies with Miss Lucy Liu tonight. Should be awesome, as there's nothing I enjoy more (except perhaps ukuleles - really, blog, the amount of times I've mentioned this small yet perfectly formed instrument -  remind me to create a ukulele themed blog, or at least post, within the next week... Actually what am I saying, you are an internet application. Wow, I really need to stop refering to you as a real person :/ ) than killing zombies .My unflinching ability to slaughter zombies online with 15-40 year old American lads almost makes me proud to be a feminist.

At this point in my blog, we've established that I am having a creative dry spell and am a Star Wars afficionado (goddamit, I want my kids to be called Luke and Leia). We also know that I like ukulele's, we have introduced two characters to the quirky non-spider (Not so much arachnaphobia as a hatred of insects and arachnids) web of my life. I figured, since this blog has been going for about a week now, let's review what this blog is going to achieve for me, or at least my targets:

1) This blog shall be honest and truthful and I will not lie in order to make online friends in Sweden, Stockholm or Florida, whom I have never met.

2) This blog shall, where possible, be chatty and humorous and sometimes a teensy bit enjoyable to read. I hope, anyway. Though we ALL know that's not the case.

3) This blog shall reignite my creative fire. If i write in this at least every other day, then hopefully my creative lexis shall be inspired and I shall be able to write something other than a few angsty paragraps or a shopping list (speaking of which, must remember to buy GoodFood magazine and more Post-It notes, as I am using them for way too many things! Seriously, who can resist little brightly coloured self adhiesive bits of paper? Clearly, everyone over the age of 5, but not me.)

4) This blog shall be cathartic and I shall write when I have something interesting to say, or creative to write, which will hopefully at least be every other day.

5) If I ever write anything creative, I shall post it on a different blog and link it to this main blog.

Anyway, I'm writing this in my college so I really should stop before I hog the computers when people actually need to do some work rather than social networking/blogging. Though technically, this is going towards my writing quota of the day. To finish, I would like to post a picture of my favourite Left for Dead character, Coach:
Man, is he a chocolate-helicopter eating, Burger Tank obsessed ninja.

Okay, maybe just one more:
Clown zombie says "hiiiii!" :-)

Hello there, Mr Muse. You are indeed a character in my story of life. And yes, this is where the blog gets a bit personal. I figured, since you won't escape my head, I'd better write my feelings down here. You won't see it; even if you do, you (probably) won't realise it's about you.

At this point, bloggers, I'd like to apologize. From the bottom of my nerdling, Star-Wars and ukulele- entusiast heart. From my dry, sarcastic mind and my stubborn will.Service of me ranting about my quirky teenage antics whilst trying to pursue a hobby of creative writing will resume as normal tomorrow. And yes, i should be revising for my ICT exam. But you, Mr Muse: you keep wandering annoyingly into my head while I try and figure out what the benefits of acetate paper, dot matrix printers and the Data Protection Act are. I'd almost be annoyed, were it not that it makes me happy when you decide to stroll into my mind, draw up a comfy neuron armchair and drink a cup of tea, like you're there to stay.

Only me and another person know (hopefully) who I am refering to. Don't worry, I won't shout your name from the rooftops and find out where you live and play a song for you at three in the morning. Because that would be stalker-ish and I don't want to scare you.

But even though you'll never read this, I just want you to know how awesome I think you are. I'd never even hoped of meeting a mind or a soul such as yours. I think Mr Muse is a good nickname for you, because you've inspired me and made me think in a way I haven't dared to think of in years. Thanks for reinvigorating me, thanks for being there, and smiling occasionally, because that just makes my day when you are happy. It makes me proper thumbs up, mouth splitting grin, heart and stomach does little backflips happy. Your smile is the best sight in the world to me. Really, Moreso than Branson, and that's saying something.

Normal service is resumed tomorrow. Along with the dreaded ICT exam. THEN my creative track can decide to rise like a phoenix from the ashes (or a pigeon with a gammy leg, as the case may be) and then my flight can REALLY begin :-)  (bird imagery! "don't you just LOVE extended metaphors!" - No.)
